This blanket is produced by women artisans using manual looms. It plays a vital role in generating income for families in Jeremoabo, Bahia, Brazil.
The county of Jeremoabo is located in the northeast of Bahia, a region that suffers from frequent droughts and relies on subsistence farming and handicrafts.
The cotton blankets are made on four exclusive wooden horizontal looms located at the headquarters of the Association of Women Artisans.
The loom technique provides autonomy for the artisans and is passed down from generation to generation, from grandmothers to their daughters and granddaughters.
Each piece produced, in addition to being beautiful, carries stories, emotions an knowledge!
